MEC leases 45,000m² in the first half of 2021
Even in the ongoing Corona crisis, the retail real estate manager MEC has concluded numerous new and follow-up leases with a total area of 45,000m² in the past half year. The majority of the leases relate to the local supply sector. Other sectors include consumer electronics, DIY, non-food discounters, sporting goods and shoes.
De Gasperi Passage: Home and decoration retailer Rusta follows Karstadt Sport
Nice prospects for Norderstedt: Rusta, the Scandinavian specialist for home, garden and leisure items, will be the new anchor tenant in De-Gasperi-Passage with more than 2,500 m² of retail space. With the signing of the long-term lease, the successful starting shot has been given for the re-letting of the former Karstadt space. The building application for a tailor-made expansion of the area has already been submitted, so that, according to the current planning, the opening will take place in autumn this year.

Starting shot for new work at MEC: yesterday, the retail property manager moved into his new headquarters in Düsseldorf and digitally inaugurated it with all employees in a team meeting.
MEC offers corona rapid test centers for customers

To further contain the pandemic, the MEC is relying on large areas of corona tests in its shopping centers. The nationwide active Commercial Property Manager provides various areas for corona rapid test stations in its centers. Center visitors can now be tested at 22 locations (see below for locations). The number will continue to rise over the next few weeks.
MEC's leasing business reaches record level

Despite Corona, MEC has broken a leasing record in 2020. In the past fiscal year, the retail property manager concluded more than 200 new and follow-up leases with a total space of 85,000 m². This was 20 percent more than in the previous year. The majority of the new leases came from the local supply and gastronomy sectors. Within the total number of lease extensions, all sectors are represented.
