First PRIMARK store in retail park: MEC brings fashion retailer to Ostsee Park Rostock

Premiere at a retail location with a retail park character - Ostsee Park Rostock is the first German location in this asset class to expand its offering with the fashion retailer PRIMARK. It is also the first German store in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

MEC, a specialist in the management of retail parks and center manager at Ostsee Park, has now concluded a corresponding lease agreement with PRIMARK. The opening is planned for summer 2025.

Ostsee Park Rostock accommodates 70 retail companies on almost 60,000 square meters. PRIMARK will offer its wide range of goods to customers in Ostsee Park on a rental area of just under 3,000 square meters. MEC had previously adapted the retail space optimally to the needs of the new tenant. “Thanks to our wide range of services in the management of retail locations, MEC is able to optimize retail space in line with demand and also adapt entire retail locations to the requirements of our customers,” explains Christian Schröder, COO of MEC.

The contract signed with PRIMARK is another success for MEC's growing letting business. In 2023, the company has concluded over 258 new and follow-up leases at retail locations and leased 172,000 square meters of retail space. “PRIMARK is a strong anchor tenant for Ostsee Park and will increase footfall. We would be delighted to expand our business relationship with PRIMARK at other of our 70 managed retail locations,” says Christian Thiele, Head of Leasing Management at MEC.

For Primark, the new store in Ostsee Park Rostock is a sensible expansion of its offering in Germany: “We are proud to open the first PRIMARK store in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Ostsee Park in the Rostock district offers an attractive environment for our new store. We want to prove that PRIMARK can grow sustainably and profitably in Germany,” says Lisa Shannon, Retail Director and interim Managing Director Germany and Austria at PRIMARK.
