New mandate for MEC: The Maximilian Center in Bonn.

MEC takes over management and further development of the Maximilian Center in Bonn

MEC, a leading manager of retail locations, is taking over the management of the Maximilian Center in Bonn from 1 May 2025 and will be responsible for the center management in future. The owner, Zusatzversorgungskasse der bayerischen Gemeinden, represented by Bayerische Versorgungskammer (BVK), is relying on MEC's extensive expertise in the further development of retail properties.

“We are delighted that we have won the trust of the Bayerische Versorgungskammer with our commitment and experience,” says Christian Schröder, COO of MEC. “With our interdisciplinary approach and the close integration of our site teams, we will reliably manage the Maximilian Center, position it for the future and develop it sustainably.”

Stefan Scheffczyk, Head of Real Estate Asset Management at BVK, adds: "With MEC, we have an experienced partner at our side who won an EU-wide tender and will provide optimal support for the Maximilian Center with its comprehensive expertise in retail property management. We are convinced that the location will develop positively as a result of this collaboration."

The Maximilian Center benefits from its highly frequented location right next to Bonn's main train station. It offers a wide range of retail, food and service outlets on around 12,000 m² of rental space. Tenants include well-known brands such as Primark, Rewe to go, dm Drogeriemarkt and Backwerk. In addition to its function as a retail and restaurant location, it serves as an important transit point for many commuters.

"This central location in particular offers great potential. The Maximilian Center is another high-traffic retail location in the MEC portfolio and underlines our growth strategy," explains Jörg Wege, Head of Business & Project Development at MEC. “Together with the Bayerische Versorgungskammer, we will work on further developing the Maximilian Center as an attractive destination for customers and visitors.”

The new mandate strengthens MEC's position as a leading manager for retail locations. MEC already manages more than 60 retail properties nationwide and develops customized solutions for their investors, tenants and customers.
