With the establishment of the Business & Project Development (BPD) department, MEC is continuing to drive forward its growth strategy. The new business unit identifies needs and market opportunities, develops location-specific strategies and shapes the further development of retail properties in close cooperation with the operational teams. The aim is to acquire new customers and locations and to tailor MEC's service profile even more closely to market needs and customer requirements.
BPD is headed by Jörg Wege, an experienced urban planner and project developer with a deep understanding of the interaction between retail properties and their surroundings: "Business & Project Development brings together the operational expertise of MEC with a strategic perspective. Today, owners and investors expect more than just reliable management. They are looking for partners who recognize urban trends and reconcile the different interests of owners, tenants, consumers and local authorities."
Interaction at eye level
BPD supplements MEC's operational services with strategic impulses and anchors them structurally. In close coordination with center management, which has first-hand knowledge of local developments, leasing management with a direct line to the rental partners and property management at the interface to the owners, Business & Project Development creates the overarching framework for the further development of locations.
This involves more than just leasing or adapting space: project and asset strategy, urban planning feasibility, approval issues, utilization concepts and specific customer requirements are systematically incorporated into the analysis. "Our strength lies in interdisciplinary networking. Cooperation with the operational areas is not an add-on, but an integral part of our daily and strategic work," emphasizes Wege.
Shaping growth, ensuring quality
With BPD, MEC is pursuing a clear strategic objective. The department drives the acquisition strategy and supports the targeted expansion of the business. As with all of MEC's activities, the quality of the services and trusting cooperation with the clients is the top priority. To this end, the service profile is continuously adapted to the requirements of the locations and their investors and tailor-made products are offered.
"We are growing with ambition. And for us, this means that every solution must meet our quality standards and be designed for long-term partnerships," says Christian Schröder, COO of MEC. “Business & Project Development plays a key role here, because this is where strategic thinking, market understanding and location expertise come together.”
