TEDOX is the latest anchor tenant in the new retail park in Essen

With the specialist renovation retailer TEDOX, a further anchor tenant in addition to the Real hypermarket and Gartencenter Seibert could be secured for the new retail park, which is being developed in the so-called Krupp Belt in Essen. In autumn 2013, the Fachmarktzentrum Essen GmbH & Co. KG, a company of the LHI Group in Pullach near Munich, will be opening the new shopping location under the name of Kronenberg Center. Through the rental to TEDOX, the rental status has already surpassed the 90% mark four months before its opening.

The approx. 30.000 m² Kronenberg Center is being developed and built by METRO PROPERTIES. MEC METRO-ECE Centermanagement GmbH & Co. KG is responsible for the rental of the new local supply location.

On a sales area of approx. 3.000 m², TEDOX will complement the range offered by the speciality shopping center in the aperiodic sector, i.e. for consumables for middle and long-term use. The renovation spe-cialist with its wide and varied range has a unique selling proposition in the large-scale chain retail sector, and will be represented in Essen for the first time.
Denns BioMarkt, Ernsting’s Family, Jeans Fritz, Takko, Deichmann and a dm-Drogeriemarkt, as well as further service outlets and restau-rants/cafés have already signed their rental agreements and are ex-panding the range on offer. “The rental activities of the last shop and gastronomy areas are currently in full swing, in order to establish a bal-anced tenant and trade mix for the location,” explains Helge Höpner, Leasing Manager at MEC.

Construction works are on schedule

Construction works at Haedenkampstraße are running well and are completely on schedule. In the middle of April, the project managers celebrated the topping-out ceremony in the presence of the mayor of Essen. Since then, the technical finishing works and the finishing of the hypermarket advanced very well. The completed works on the façade and roof already give a good impression of the attractiveness of the complete building and customer parking in front of the center. “We are pleased about the positive feedback which the new center is receiving on the rental market, and we are confident that we will have let all areas by the opening date,” explains Michael Hartung, who is responsible for METRO PROPERTIES’ business in Germany. With the new center construction, the Real location at nearby Husmannshofstraße will be replaced. The opening of the Kronenberg Center is planned for end of October.
