MEC offers corona rapid test centers for customers

To further contain the pandemic, the MEC is relying on large areas of corona tests in its shopping centers. The nationwide active Commercial Property Manager provides various areas for corona rapid test stations in its centers. Center visitors can now be tested at 22 locations (see below for locations). The number will continue to rise over the next few weeks.

Despite Corona, MEC has broken a leasing record in 2020. In the past fiscal year, the retail property manager concluded more than 200 new and follow-up leases with a total space of 85,000 m². This was 20 percent more than in the previous year. The majority of the new leases came from the local supply and gastronomy sectors. Within the total number of lease extensions, all sectors are represented.
METRO PROPERTIES extends all its MEC mandates
With twelve mandate extensions, MEC enters the tenth year of its existence in a stronger position. METRO PROPERTIES extends all contracts for the center management of its twelve MEC locations, thus strengthening the continuity of MEC's core business.
The extended mandates cover customized services around integrated center management of retail parks and hybrid malls including commercial and technical management as well as leasing.

Cushman & Wakefield brokers 1.700m² office space to expanding MEC
Das Düsseldorfer Bürovermietungsteam der internationalen Immobilienberatung Cushman & Wakefield (C&W) hat im Bürogebäude FRITZ in Düsseldorf 1.700 m² Bürofläche an die MEC vermittelt. Der Umzug erfolgt aus Expansionsgründen im Frühjahr kommenden Jahres und ermöglicht der MEC die Einrichtung einer New-Work-Arbeitswelt. Eigentümer des Multi-Tenant-Bürogebäudes ist der global tätige Investor Westbrook Partners.
MEC acquires ten new locations in Bavaria
MEC is successfully continuing its growth strategy. As of October 1st, 2020, the German market leader for retail parks takes over ten retail properties of HanseMerkur Grundvermögen AG in Bavaria. The total rental space of this "Bavaria portfolio" amounts to just under 60,000m².

MEC is further expanding its position as national market leader for retail parks. Its latest customer is the investment company CORESTATE Capital Investors (Europe), based in Frankfurt am Main and represented in eleven countries.
MEC retail parks receive award as top shopping locations
In an independent study conducted by the test magazine TESTBILD and the statistics portal Statista, six MEC retail parks received the coveted award „Die Besten der Stadt 2020“ ("The Best of the City 2020"). The award is based on about 90,000 customer ratings of shopping locations in 40 major German cities. It is intended to serve consumers as a reliable and transparent guide in their search for the best retailers in a region.
MEC fills the position of Head of Technical Property Management from its own ranks
Die MEC METRO-ECE Centermanagement GmbH & Co. KG besetzt die Position des Head of Technical Property Management (TPM) ab sofort mit Sven Schneeweiß. Er übernimmt die Leitung des Bereichs von Sebastian Kienert, CFO, der diesen zuletzt ad interim geführt hatte.
