MEC successfully vaccinates at their locations

• In 2021, MEC will establish 21 vaccination centers at locations with cooperation partners
• A total of 118,245 vaccinations were administered from July 10 to December 31, 2021
• More vaccination centers opened earlier this year

MEC, the retail property specialist and national market leader for the operation of retail parks, has been supporting the fight against Corona since the beginning of the pandemic. Free vaccinations were therefore available at 21 MEC locations in the second half of 2021. As a result, numerous people throughout Germany were able to get vaccinated over a total of 425 days. A total of 118,245 vaccinations were administered, including first, second and booster vaccinations. On average, this is about 279 vaccinations per day with an average opening time of 20 days per vaccination station (as of December 31, 2021).

The form of the offer varies depending on the location and the possibilities there. They range from a permanently installed vaccination center to short-term vaccination buses to temporary vaccination campaigns. Medical partners are municipal health authorities, the DRK, the Johanniter or local medical practices.

With increased vaccination offers, the MEC is sending a clear signal at an early stage and at the same time reacting to the great willingness to be vaccinated against Corona. The first opening of a vaccination center was on July 10, 2021 in the Ostsee Park Rostock. Only a few days later, additional offers followed in the ORO Schwabach and in the Saarbasar in Saarbrücken. In total, the MEC was able to secure 13 vaccination stations in the summer months. From autumn, the retail property manager reacted to the fourth wave of Corona and quickly established eight more stations in different regions.

The most frequent sleeves were rolled up in the Bethanien Center Neubrandenburg: the syringe was used there 31,181 times. At 119 days, the Saarbasar was open the longest of all the MEC locations. About 15,000 people were vaccinated in Saarbrücken.

Thanks to our local partners, we were able to ensure vaccination options in our centers at an early stage and last year provided many people with corona protection. Consistently maintaining the vaccination rate is particularly important for containing the pandemic," says Christian Schröder, COO of the MEC.

That is why other vaccination locations are being added. At the beginning of the year, new vaccination centers were opened in the Troisdorf Gallery and in the Weißeritz Park Freital. More are in the planning stage.
