Teamwork achieves more

Teamwork & interdisciplinary work ensure the very best coordination within MEC and in collaboration with our clients and partners. Because our approaches to work are coordinated and we take steps forward in the right order.

Our team approach and interdisciplinary way of thinking take us all forward. Each of us can contribute to the team and make us successful. That is why we work together and across all departments in order to always find optimum solutions with innovative approaches for our clients (link to ‘Client and market focus’).

The interplay of individual services provides valuable synergies and lean processes. Only by working together can we keep everything in sight. We support each other as a team and, at the same time, foster the individual strengths of each individual.

How do we do it? It’s right here.

We have created a digital fitness centre for our fit and vibrant brand to enable us all to communicate and share information with each other: the internal Brand Fitness website and the associated Teams channel for sharing experiences. Comments, questions, successes, and observations can be posted there and shared with other MEC employees. This is how we work together to strengthen our team coordination.

Our coordination training has paid off:

T.E.C. refurbishment project, Erfurt

We extensively altered and freshened up the appearance of the T.E.C. shopping mall in Erfurt in a coordinated project – working across all departments and with external support. The aim was to offer customers of the retail centre a contemporary shopping experience in a relaxed environment, while at the same time future-proofing the T.E.C.

Dreieich Nordpark refurbishment project

Another major refurbishment project is currently under way at the Dreieich Nordpark retail centre. We will have restructured and repositioned our shopping centre by 2023. We have approval to implement the proposals developed by the interdisciplinary MEC team on behalf of the owner.

As we also provide sole operational site management – consisting of Centre Management, Leasing Management and Technical Property Management – our leasing colleagues are already engaged in intensive lease contract negotiations with well-known new retailers. We have now succeeded in securing Kaufland as an anchor tenant.

And we are also continuing to work on the designs to modernise the centre before embarking on the comprehensive renovation of the interior and exterior appearance.

Portfolio Teams

Portfolio Teams are the epitome of our interdisciplinary teamwork: Teamwork: The team always consists of Commercial Asset Management (CAM), Centre Management (CM) and Leasing Management (LM) or Property Management (PM) for PM remits. By combining our expertise, we pool our strength in a coordinated way for the retail properties we manage. This collaboration generates better ideas – not least because of the active dialogue we have with each other. Check out pages 9–10 and 12–13 of our image brochure for more on our way of working. Digitalisation of MEC

It was clear from the start that we need to ask our employees what kind of IT applications they need. Every department was involved and actively took part. Previously linked to Metro-IT, we will have our own made-to-measure IT system from the start of 2022. The insourcing of IT is ongoing. But even in future, everyone will be able to actively participate and pass on their ideas and needs to the IT team – as an internal customer request. Of course, in light of current changes support is a priority within Team MEC. It gives us the potential to gain a new competitive edge through digital innovation. Digitalisation at MEC is a joint task for which we are all needed.

Talent wins games. But teamwork wins championships.

That’s how we keep fit
